American goulash

Ingredients:

    Meat

  • 0.9 kg lean ground beef
  • 450 g of ground turkey
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 3 tbsp of water
  • 2 jars of tomato sauce (425 g each)
  • 2 x 425g cans of chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. l. homemade seasoning, see recipe below
  • 1 tbsp. seasoned salt
  • 2 cups pasta, dry
  • For servinggarlic bread and salad

    Homemade seasoning

  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup black pepper
  • 1/4 cup garlic powder

Preparation:

  1. In a large Dutch oven over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until it's completely browned. Skim off any excess fat with a spoon. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add 3 cups of water along with the tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes, Italian seasoning, bay leaf, soy sauce, homemade seasoning, and seasoning salt. Stir well. Cover the pan and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add the macaroni, stir well, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaf, and let the goulash steep for another 30 minutes, then serve.
  4. Serve the goulash with garlic bread and salad.

    Homemade seasoning:

    Mix all ingredients and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Use as a seasoning for meat and vegetables.
