Sugar house for table decoration topcook.tomathouse.com
Preparation:Special equipment: 2 sheets of 16" x 16" foam board, hot glue gun or 2 cups royal icing, pastry bag with a small round tip or zip-lock bag, ruler, razor blade, battery-operated candles (Note: If you use a hot glue gun, the house will not be edible). Ingredients:
- 2 packages (450 g each) refined sugar
- 1 packet (300 g) mini marshmallows
- 1 package (180 g) of white round candies, such as Life Savers
- 1 jar (450 g) of white glaze
- 3 x 30g packs of white chewy candies, such as Mentos
Preparation:
- In the center of one sheet of foam board, draw a 7.5 x 7.5-inch square to serve as a guide for the foundation of the house. Begin gluing sugar cubes along the outline using either hot glue or royal icing. Be sure to leave room for the door, and once you reach the third layer of cubes, leave room for two windows on each side. Once the walls reach 5-6 inches in height, arrange the sugar cubes in a pyramid at both ends of the house to form the slopes of the roof.
- Cut a 25x25 cm square from the second sheet of foam board and mark its center. Fold the square in half to create a peaked roof and glue it to the top of the house. Decorate the roof with marshmallows or round white candies.
- Fill a pastry bag or zip-lock bag with a small amount of frosting and fill all the cracks in the house and roof with it.
- Decorate the house or surrounding area with the remaining sugar cubes, candies, and marshmallows on cardboard (trees, bushes, fences, snowmen). Use the remaining icing to create snowdrifts around the house. Place a battery-operated candle inside the house to illuminate it.
