Macerated strawberries

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 0.5 cups of sugar
  • 0.5 tsp. grated lemon zest
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • A sprig of fresh mint for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Place the strawberries in a bowl, add the sugar, zest, and vanilla, and stir. Let them macerate for 30 minutes at room temperature. The sugar will soften the fruit and draw out the juices, creating a delicious syrup.
  2. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint before serving!
