Banana Foster Milkshake

Ingredients:

    Banana Foster

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled and cut into 1cm thick slices.
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup banana liqueur
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp salt

    Milkshake

  • 240 ml Jamaican dark rum, such as Myers's
  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly thawed
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • 4 maraschino cherries on stems

Preparation:

  1. Banana Foster:

    Place the butter and bananas in a medium nonstick skillet and cook over medium heat until the bananas are caramelized, about 2 minutes per side. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon. Remove from the heat, add the banana liqueur and stir. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt, and transfer the bananas foster to a bowl to cool.
  2. Milkshake:

    Combine the rum, cooled bananas, and ice cream in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into glasses and top with a dollop of whipped cream. Sprinkle with cinnamon, garnish with a cherry, and serve with a long straw.
