Dessert "Earth in a Glass with Spider Web" topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1 package (90 g) of instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1.5 cups of milk
- 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream
- 3 tbsp. black (or alkalized) cocoa powder
- 26 chocolate sandwich cookies, such as Oreos, crushed to resemble earth
- 15 gummy worms
- 20 candy eyeballs
- 0.5 cup white chocolate discs, melted
- Crushed ice
- 6 sugar-coated gummy bears
- Special equipment: 6 clear glasses or goblets (250 ml each), a pastry bag and a medium round tip (or a zip-lock bag with the corner cut off)
Preparation:
- In a large bowl, combine the instant pudding mix and milk until smooth. Let sit until slightly set, about 5 minutes.
- In another large bowl, beat the heavy cream with a mixer on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 2 minutes. Add the cocoa powder and beat on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 1 minute. Fold one-third of the whipped cream into the pudding and fold in, then gently fold in the remaining whipped cream and fold in with a spatula.
- Divide half the pudding among 6 clear glasses or goblets, filling them about halfway. Top each with 1 tablespoon of crushed cookies, then arrange 2-3 gummy worms and 3-4 googly eyes, pressing them against the side of the glass so they are visible.
- Spoon another 1 heaping tablespoon of crushed cookies and the remaining 1/3 cup of pudding into each glass, then top with another 2 heaping tablespoons of crushed cookies. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Cobweb: You will need a pastry bag fitted with a medium round tip (or a disposable pastry bag).
Line a baking sheet with kitchen towels. Fill a large bowl with crushed ice and a small amount of water. Press the ice down so the surface is as flat as possible.
- Transfer the melted white chocolate to a piping bag. Pipe four intersecting lines onto the ice to form an 8-cm star, then pipe a circle inside the star and a smaller circle inside the first circle. Let the web set for 10-15 seconds, then carefully transfer it to the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process to make 8 webs; since they are fragile, we recommend making a couple of extra ones.
- To make the spiders, lay the gummy bears flat side up. Using kitchen scissors, cut three narrow triangles from each short end, creating four legs on each side of each spider.
- Place a spider web on each cup of soil, then place a spider on top. Serve cold.
