Caipirinha cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 small orange, cut into pieces
  • 1 lime, cut into pieces
  • 1 lemon, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 bottle of cachaça (cane brandy)
  • Ice
  • Mint and lime wedges for garnish
  • Sugarcane stalks, for serving, optional

Preparation:

  1. Place citrus slices and sugar in the bottom of a decanter. Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, mash the fruit to release juice. Once enough juice has been extracted that the sugar has begun to dissolve, pour the cachaça into the decanter and stir.
  2. Fill short glasses with ice and the cocktail. Do not add crushed fruit pieces. Garnish with mint and lime. Add a cane stem, if desired.
