Cornflake Christmas Wreaths

topcook.tomathouse.com

Ingredients:

  • 450 gr. marshmallow
  • 6 tbsp (90 g) butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green gel food coloring
  • 6 cups cornflakes
  • Small round red cinnamon candies, for decorating
  • Red ribbons of sour gumdrops, such as Rip Rolls, or licorice rope, cut into 5 x 1/2-inch pieces, for decorating
  • White nonpareil, for decoration

Preparation:

  1. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. In a large bowl, combine the marshmallows and butter and microwave at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring occasionally, until melted, about 1.5 minutes.
  2. Stir in vanilla and enough food coloring to turn the mixture dark green (10-15 drops). Stir in the cornflakes until completely coated.
  3. Using wet hands, form the mixture into 24 2-inch balls. Flatten them on the prepared baking sheets and poke a hole in the center of each one with your finger, forming wreaths. Decorate the wreaths with cinnamon candies to create holly berries. Tie simple bows from red candy strips and attach to the wreaths. Sprinkle lightly with nonpareils to create snow. Let the wreaths set at room temperature for about 2 hours, or refrigerate for 30 minutes.
